I have used the freecycle groups. They are a great idea, but it can be done in a better way.
They are not really that accessible to people. There is a complicated registering process, you have to dig through all the posts with no real search ability and they are divided up on regional grounds. So if you live at the edge of an area you may not be able to see something just around the corner without going into another group and checking that out.
Frankly it put me off a bit.
For the last couple of years I've been sitting twiddling my thumbs wondering why no one has gone for the really simple approach - so I (eventually) bit the bullet and decided to do it myself.
I just wanted to make something easier to use.
Nope ..... it costs me money!
No. Like I said ..... I don't understand why they haven't done this themselves yet! I can only assume a lack of expertise.
My name is Iain Wood, I'm a web developer who also runs a couple of other sites (you'll notice that they have similar searchy by location themes - in particular The Bed Bureau, A list of Care Home Vacancies in the UK
It was the most appropriate domain I had lying around doing nothing.
I don't like spam! You will only get an e-mail from me if it's very important. The system will e-mail you when people express an interest in an item, or when someone responds to a post thread you are in. Otherwise I will keep all data that I get from you private.
If you have any specific questions you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
